• Letter to Delegates

    To all potential delegates,

We would like to cordially invite you to participate in the second annual CME Trading Simulation Competition on November 12, 2011. The University of Guelph - CME Trading Simulation Competition was created to provide students with the opportunity to compete in a daylong trading simulation, gain valuable experience, and network with industry professionals. The overall goal is to provide a venue where industry professionals and students can come together in a mutually beneficial atmosphere. Last year was a great success with 150 students from eight universities, guest speakers and representatives from the Canadian capital markets, and great prizing for the top three teams. Building on that inaugural success we strive to bring you a truly unique experience.

The purpose of the event is to give you the opportunity to experience what trading for a day is like and gain some insight into the financial industry. During this competition you will have the opportunity to challenge other traders while using long, short, and options trading strategies for 10 stocks. The computer software used updates quotes, news, and options prices all in real time as trades are being transacted throughout the day.

Although experience in finance and trading would be an asset, it is not required to compete in the trading simulation competition. There is a training session provided before market opens to ensure that all traders are prepared for the competition. Upon arrival teams will be able to analyze the stock overviews, review market outlook for the simulated year ahead, and create a strategy. The day of trading will be an event that is a great opportunity to network and benefit from hands on educational experience.

Thank you for your interest in the CME Trading Simulation Competition. We look forward to meeting you when the market opens.

    Sincerely,

    Mike Ackland
    CME Trading Simulation Chairman
